Ukraine, country situated in eastern Europe, the second biggest on the mainland after Russia. The capital is Kyiv (Kiev), situated on the Dnieper River in north-focal Ukraine.

A completely free Ukraine arose just late in the twentieth century, after significant stretches of progressive control by Poland-Lithuania, Russia, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.).
